Who is Abacus?
Jon Spencer is Abacus's fulfillment expert and data geek, and is Circulation Manager of The Literary Review of Canada, Ski Canada and Opera Canada.
Jon also assists Gripped Publishing (Canadian Cycling, Canadian Running, Gripped and Triathlon Magazine Canada), Contempo Media (SHARP and S/ magazines), and This Magazine with circulation marketing projects. Since founding Abacus, Jon has worked with dozens of magazine publishers -- many on an ongoing basis (from TVA's large-circulation consumer titles to Canadian HR Reporter, The Walrus, New Internationalist, and AZURE) and many others as one of Magazines Canada's Travelling Consultants.
Jon also spent a year as acting Group Circulation Director for St. Joseph Media (including Toronto Life, FASHION, Quill & Quire, and others).
Jon has also conducted research and analysis on circulation issues for the Department of Canadian Heritage and Magazines Canada.
Before starting Abacus, Jon was Circulation Manager/Director of Canadian Art, OWL & Chickadee and Radio Guide, after starting his circulation career at Mother Jones magazine and launching Peace Magazine.
Sarah Watt currently works primarily for Cottage Life Media (Cottage Life and Outdoor Canada magazines) and Canadian House and Home, and in recent years has helped launch Ricardo magazine's English-language edition, and served as Circulation Director for Canadian Art.
She has also acted as interim Circulation Director for Today's Parent and Chatelaine, and has conducted numerous marketing campaigns for the Presbyterian Record, Novalis, and others.
Further back in Abacus's distant past, Sarah also helped (as Circulation Manager) to launch Shift magazine.
Prior to co-founding Abacus, Sarah was Circulation Manager of Canadian Business and Profit.
